Ola guys and gals.

I was wondering if anybody knows of any ereaders or tablets that are cheap and will read .cbr files in colour. Something along the lines of the kindle fire, but available in sa. Ipad and galaxy tabs are just overkill for the purpose. All I want to do is read digital comics on a decent size screen other than my phone. So 7" will suffice.

Just use any Android or IOS tablet and get a .cbr app. I use PerfectViewer on Android and I'm sure there are good IOS alternatives.

Who says the Kindle Fire won't be available in SA? Just wait for the launch and see. Even if it won't, you could always import it through takeitall or whatever it's called now. I think I read somewhere that even their loony prices are still cheaper than a Samsung/htc or fApple tabet, those are crazy expensive, especially if you only want to read some comics with it. Something like R2500...

Cheapest solution:

- Use 7zip or similar to unarchive the .cbr file - you should end up with a collection of images.
- Purchase a cheap lcd digital picture frame(Esquire recently had a 7" model with audio & video support for R299+vat).

There's an interesting range of Android tablets emerging going by the name of Apad or Flytouch.

The first two versions were pretty dire, but Versions 3 & 4 are looking interesting. from about $300 NZ (R1600)
