The new Command and Conquer will only be called “Command and Conquer”, and not Generals 2 as previously planned. According to the website the game will be free. Don’t know how that will work, but I guess it will be a lot like Age of the Empires Online, where you need to actually buy upgrades to be competitive or something like that. We know that there is no such thing as a free lunch, so I will be budgeting to actually pay for the game (one way or another). Go check out gameplay footage at their site: commandandconquer.com/free. The game is powered by Frostbite technology, which is also used in Battlefield3. It looks awesome and I am really looking forward to this one. It’s been a while since I played a good strategy game. The only one I still play is Tiberium Wars cause RedAlert3 and Tiberium Twilight where both a waste of money (which currently retails for R50, which is still a waste for both games).

The CnC series used to be my favourite by MILES, until they starting cocking around with the format and gameplay. Red Alert 1 was epic, number 2 wasn't as good but still immensly enjoyable and the less said about the 3rd, the better.

I hope they've reverted back to what worked with the Generals series. Zero Hour was a blast. The lunacy of being able to build as many superweapons as you wanted was a lot of fun and the units in that game were awesome because they were relevant to modern day warfare (with a few exceptions).

C&C died with Westwood.

Agreed, even worse, EA said no more single player games...

"I have not green lit one game to be developed as a single-player experience," Gibeau said. "Today, all of our games include online applications and digital services that make them live 24/7/365." The statement does not exclude games that are mainly single player, but makes it clear that at the very least efforts like Mass Effect 3, which had a campaign as well as online multiplayer and other social elements, are now the standard for EA.

So expect online games from now on, or games that need internet for LAN play.

Quite sad news that. But I have to respond to that pathetic claim:

*Till we decide to pull the plug on the online service a few years down the line.

So just to make sure I understand your post. Is it basically the orginal game (with original story line, game play, units and characters) on a Windows 7 compatible platform? If so, you got a link?

Ok, so it looks like you still need to have RA3 installed and then this mod runs on top of that. Pity, I was keen to download it and take a mammoth tank trip down memory lane :)

I still have the entire franchise (big time addict).
Going to load this mod this weekend :D
