Company audit fees

Any ideas on how or where one can one establish what acceptable audit and accounting fees should be? How would I know if my auditor has reasonable charges compared to other auditors? Would it be acceptable to get other auditors to come in and offer quotations to do the same work? How should one go about this?

Yeah just ask a couple.

You'll need to share some confidential info with them for to provide a quote though - they can't quote it blindly. (Not if they're sane anyway).

Broadly the fees will be a combination of how much actual work it is and how well known their brand is.

Accounting fees will be all over the place, as will the quality. It's not as regulated as audit.
