I have a old HP Compaq 6710B laptop which I plan to install a 120GB SSD drive. Currently running a 80GB 5400RPM drive and seems the poor drive can't cope anymore. Will this speed things up a little bit by going SSD? The RAM is already at 4GB.

Yeah you should see a noticeable difference in boot and app loading times. 5400rpm laptop drives are slow.

Then again maybe your requirements exceed that of what the laptop offers. What do you use it for?

Edit: Keep in mind that laptop has a SATA revision 1.0 - 1.5 Gbit/s - 150 MB/s interface so you don't have to go and buy the fastest most expensive SSD.

The laptop is using for the basics like Excel datasheets, Word and Emails. Nothing really resource intensive as you can see. I notice the SATA revision 1.0. Will this SSD work? SANDISK STANDARD SSD 128GB SDSSDP-128G-G25.

Thanks for the response.

Later revision sata devices are backwards compatible with older sata standards.
