Comparing files

Hi all,

I had a bit of a notebook malfunction last year, affecting my 12 000 digital photos from my cameras. I renamed all the photos accordingly (I hate this DSCxxxx.jpg crap), and when restoring/recovering all the files, the old DSC versions were also copied back to my hdd. So now I have about 25 000 digi cam pics (some extras taken over the holiday period), but I don't want to go through the schlep of searching to see what has been renamed, and to what.

Is there a program that can inspect/compare files like this (and also other text/MS documents)?

Google reveals this utility. Not freeware though

the best way i know of under windows is to download Picassa, freeware from google: http://picasa.google.com/index.html

it will scan all your drives for images then it should be easy for you to just delete duplicate files in one go.
