Good morning myBroadBanders

I have a question related to investments

Lets say I am investing in fund A in two different policies

Lets say one is an endowment, the other one just a straight unit trust

I know the rules of and endowment, but is it logical for one policy to pull dividends with fund A, and the other one not ?

Does that make any sense at all ?

I think I found stuff out that Momentum cant handle. They cant answer me with a straight answer. Every answer differs.

If anyone have invesment (and the fund doesnt pay out any dividends / interest), why have that in the first place (that is my question).

Momentum started off with, the policy inst a dividend paying policy (but the same funds in other investments do pay dividends out).

Now they came back, it is dividend paying, but the client cant see any dividends (its internally)

WHAT @#$@#$@#$#$@ BS !!!!

Normally when a fund doesn't pay out dividends it is called a "total return" fund. The dividends earned are automatically re-invested into the fund. You don't get more units, but the average price of each unit is increased.

Maybe I missed what you are on about, but just keep that in mind.

In short I got the following answer. What I see in fact sheets isnt reflecting in the policy because it is designed in such a way not to pay dividends ( L O L ) ! What a joke of an answer !

We can't help you unless you link the respective fact sheets.
Some funds reinvest their dividends - you will not see a dividend on your statement but the value of the fund will increase by the value of the dividend. Others pay out their dividends.
Some wrappers deduct dividend tax internally (endowments), some are tax free (RA/TFSA), some pay out dividends net of tax.
I can't comment on your question unless I see what fund it is and what investment wrapper is used.

Thanks for your input vrede. According to the NCA, all income should reflect ! From there it can be taxed etc !

OK, applying my mind to the scenario in OP:

An Endowment policy won't show things like dividends (even if that fund you can get elsewhere is invested in that wrapper), all the growth/return/interest is taxed at a fixed rate (30%?), so indeed, it is not designed that way.

Ok .... I see where you are going. They said I wont get 1c of dividend at all. Now, I contacted the firm who's fund it is, and their jaw is also dropping !

I can bet ANY ONE, I started now a NEW Allan GREY endowment, I will see dividends / interest paid out !

AG isnt hiding anything, I can see ANYTHING for multiple investments. Why is Momentum hiding stuff ? Liberty the exact same question. Been there, got them nailed and moved on !

Clearly I am moving my investments also away from momentum !

And just another note, I have a few endowments, why is everyone else showing dividends then ? Old Mutual is an example.

After seeing what has happend now, I am questioning every firm for the same question : show me dividends (And I dont care if it is an endowment, RA, preserved fund, unit trust (you name it)).

No disrespect, but if you're not willing to state the fund names or link to the fact sheets this all seems like a fabricated rant. What possible reason could you have to not want to share the information?

Ok, Coronation Top 20 (D).

All I am saying is, I have this fund with a few policies (from a RA, preserved fund, endowment and unit trusts). Only the endowment one isnt showing any dividends. So, if a fact sheet says dividends are paid out, and it isnt showing, who is getting that ?

I can confirm, if you invest in a INVESTO product via momentum, in ANY fund, you wont get any dividends !

How nice hey ! So I can select fund that pull dividends, and no dividend will be paid out.

I am CLOSING ALL MY ACCOUNTS WITH MOMENTUM

The snr from Momentum answered my question nicely : I can SELECT any fund, and no dividends will be paid out. Even if the fact sheet say it will pay dividends !

/waits for class action lawsuit

And I got my fact sheets now too eventually, and clearly dividends are stated ! So in just less than a decade I wasted money (thinking they have my best interests at heart).

The reason, its design that way ! Anyway, I am moving all my things. For anyone who has an Investo product, double check your statement and see from day 1 if you have any dividends / interest (nothing will SHOW), that was what I saw !

Some really shocking stuff !
