Just to get an idea what school fees are like. Currently I am paying R1850 pm for my child's full day care at creche. What are you paying for schooling (creche, primary or high school). Also if you have a child at college / varsity what are the monthly fees. And is it private or public schooling?

Former Model C school that I went to (Remember they are really government schools, so the government pays teachers salaries and subsidises the rest of the school and therefore arent nearly as expensive as full private schools): Last year my fees were +-R12000 for the year.

Varsity: BCom at UJ - Between R16k abd R19k depending on your course.
BCom at wits - Between R25k and about R30k

Damn school is expensive now, I remember when my parents gave me a R50 note to pay my fees at my first school in grade 1! 15 years ago though...

Studying Elec Engineering at UCT now my parents pay between R20K - R30K depending on number and type of courses taken.

Private school, about R36K per year. Each! *wince*

My kid's school sets their fees on a curve. The higher the grade the higher the fees. It's the last year of pre-primary for my eldest so I'm currently paying R16k pa. Big jump in fees next year for grade 1 that I'm not at all looking forward to, and the youngest starts pre-primary. :o

My schools' fees are R340/month for 11months.

I'm paid by the governing body and thus from school fees.

At this point in the year we have only received 24% of our school fees.

My daughter is 4 right now, so we're looking at schools. Private schools range from between R15k p/a to R30k p/a. Dunvegan Primary is about R7500 p/a

That is actually not bad (high school fees).

Matric at private school - R41 000pa
Bcom Acc NMMU - R18 000pa

Shame, seems my babe must maar forget about going to a private school. Unless I get a promo and decent salary increase in the foreseeable future, I won't be able to afford it!

R16k is not too bad. I pay R22 200 per annum, but then again... I only have one! LOL :)

That's a steal!

Damn, Edenvale is too far from me! :( The private schools that is in the region of R15k - is that also on the East?

30k p.a. Private. Thats after heavy foreign gov subsidization...about 60k without.

Tuks: 16k - 40k depending on course selected. Most are 20k-ish.

My parents paid about..
Primary = R1500p/a (model c)
1st High = R5500p/a (model c) fees go up about R500 - 1k per year!
2nd High = R900p/a !!!!! (state)
tertiary = R40000p/a

and we are 3!
two bros a year apart now 19 & 18 different high schools(R5500) and tertiary(?) though

My 5yr old daughter is at full day creche this year - R1300 p/m.
Come 2011 and she'll be starting Grade R at a private school (well, that's the plan at the moment) - I'm going to be in for approx. R3800 p/m next year . . . . :eek:

Please mention the names of the schools too.

Looking to enroll the sprog in a provate school in 4 years or so.

Also he is 2 and we spend about 1.5k a month.

UCT - Computer Engineering. R31k pa

they vary from 20k->45k pa depending on degree choice (most expensive undergrad option is medicine i think at 50kpa)

My son is in a small creche in Northcliff (22 kids in the whole creche). I don't feel comfortable mentioning the name here.

Hmmm... quick ninja edit on my previous post because your post made me feel 'uncomfortable' about mentioning names -_-
