Good people

I have a Toshiba laptop and a Sony data projector and have recently experienced troubles in trying to connect the two in order to make presentations.

Once they are connected, the laptop 's screen is either black, or the picture does not show up on the screen.

Any troubleshooting tips?

Thanks

Have you told your computer to either extend the desktop or to duplicate it, on the external screen? Often Windows turns it off by itself, I find, and what you're describing sounds like that may be it.

Also something to check is that the resolution you are putting out to the projector is in the right range. Your average projector will only accept a signal up to 1024*768 if I'm not mistaken. If it goes higher than this, then the projector just stays blank.

To check, go to the same spot where you extended your desktop, and you can click on the individual screens, select the screen that is assigned to the projector (normally screen 2) and adjust its resolution down to a lower setting, start at 800*600 and work your way up once you can see a picture!
