Our family is on their network x medical scheme.

My my parents ( pensioners ) and disabled brother ( disability grant) with limited income .

Their contributions is going up from R1300 to R3900 , the benefits for 2017 is worse also than 2016 :(

a increase of 3 x .

the biggest gripe i have with them is they informed us beginning of dec that prices will be going up !

now it is a mad rush to find a affordable medical aid , most institutions is closing on the 15th of dec :(

what a ****ty xmass present

What reason did they give for such an enormous increase?

Interesting. According to their website they say the Network options are subject to CMS approval. My guess is that they will have trouble getting that approval. It looks like they have removed all their income levels aside from a very low one (R0 to R500, and R500 plus) which is obviously to cater for the likes of students whose only income is from tutoring. That practically makes it a totally new option even though it goes under the same name. Previously there were several income bands.

You might want to look at Discovery's Keycare Plus option. It's a network option so you would need to check whether they have network GPs, dentists, hospitals, etc near where they live. It will probably cost more than what they are currently paying, but nowhere near R3,900.
