Hi all,

I love gardening at home and have 1 guava tree and 3 raised beds for my veggies. I am planning on planting more fruit trees but I want to mulch all my available growing space with wood-chips.

Does anyone know the most cost effective way to get loads of wood chips and compost, btw do landfill site give free compost/woodchips.

I am from Cape Town,thanks

Doublecheck that you don't have any termites within a billion kilometers before covering everything in wood chips. Lesson learned the hard way

Some tree fellers will provide wood chips. Else buy from a nursery

You will have a better chance for growth using a mixture of "greens" and chips. Green leaves from anything mixed with small wood chips is awesome - even grass!!!

Planting nasturtiums in and around your trees will help against ants. Also using larger chips and charcoal on the top layer helps against weeds and pests.
