Curious if these things actually makes a difference if you use them. Do they actually take away eye strain or dryness ?

computer glasses? never heard of them before ... like a large % of the pc using population we mostly wear Spectacles cause of
bad eye sight but if you've been prescribed some specs by an op would prob be a good idea to wear them to reduce eye strain,
as for dryness ... eyedrops

Wear glasses so would not know.

They seem to keep strain off my eyes

Somebody with some knowledge should rather answer, but I have found that with LCD's / LED's it's no longer an issue. I had some trouble with a bit of glare on high res CRT's, and for them, the anti-glare type glasses works brilliantly.

technically it should help to relieve the ciliary muscle from preventing strain, as you are constantly focusing on a virtual picture, which means that muscle pulling on the lens in your eye stays fixed in one position the whole time. if you help relax it with some glasses, you shouldnt get eye strain.

I have specs which focus further (40-50cm) than reading specs which I use specifically for computer work. I've also had a set of bifocals made using that focal length on the bottom - it's ideal for driving as you can see the dash dials, etc perfectly.

I had these specs specially made when I found I was getting backache from having to lean too close to the screen to be able to focus properly.

Ive recently been prescribed these , I have perfect vision however I was getting tension headaches from staring at a PC screen for 10+ hours a day (Excel and SQL can be hell on high res monitors) anyway I've been wearing these glasses in front of the PC and as yet no headaches at all, I've also noticed my eyes do take longer to dry out. Well worth it as I don't spend my evenings chilling out and recovering from headaches anymore:)

I dont get eye strain from using a computer... or dry eyes. Is it normal to get eye strain?

I use to experience alot of strain and dry eyes. You can try glasses with an anti glare coating (also used for night driving)- may help a little bit.

An opthamologist advised me to get good eye habits which I found helped alot. So every few minutes look away from your computer. Stare at your fingers (extended infront of you) and then move your stare to the furthest point your eye can see (outside the window if possible). Do this a few times. Also regularly massage the side of your eyes at the nose -not sure what that part is called.

If your eyes are quite bad- use refresh tears - available over the counter. but do not get in the habit of using any eye ointment...

Both CRT and LCD ? Those are prescribed computer glasses and not those you can get like the Pyramex DV-30 Digital Vision Computer Glasses FT-DV30 for example.
