How do people find out about them?

Was talking to a guy the other day who reckoned there are some great bargains to be had at auctions, where all goods must go at the end of the day.

But how do people find out about them? Occasionally I see an ad in the newspaper or something, but surely there is another way?

Anyone go to these things regularly that can give some kind of feedback?

I know the universities sometimes hold them. Big companies also.

I doubt there is a regular/formal auction like you describe.

Go to Prophecy Classifieds, which is the nearest thing. Not auctions as such, but if you're attentive there are great deals to be had, and sellers are often negotiable.

But these auctions are way different cos the stuff literally has to go, so you get like 50-80% off sometimes...

friday newspapers generally have auction details, and aucor often have computer goodies BUT you will find many people get carried away and there are not always bargains to be found - a lot of auctions you have to add to the final price auction fees and vat and suddenly the cost is 25% more on an item that has no warranty or may not even be working.

Hmmm, things are not looking as rosey as before then :|
