Hi

Anybody know of a company who will dispose of old computer hardware in the Eastern Cape region?

We need the services of such a company as there is old equipment on site which need to be disposed of.

Thanks!

makro and fujitsu e-waste recycling goes nationwide

following the tremendous success of the pilot e-waste recycling hub at makro’s woodmead store, makro, together with fujitsu and desco recyclers rolled this facility out to all makro stores around the country. the recycling containers, placed conveniently near the entrance of all makro stores facilitate the safe disposal of used computer and electronic equipment. the containers are regularly cleared by desco recycling and the contents are recycled, or disposed of in line with global environmental best practises.

That's fine. China own most of South Africa anyway, including parts of the government. :D Ever noticed where the "Proudly South African" bracelets are made? Yip, says "Made in China". :P

Didn't you guys watch CSI? They take the e-waste and dump it on some poor, innocent Chinese village...

...Or it can end up in another African country.

Saw this program once where they put a GPS receiver into an old tv set handed in at one of Britain's recycling companies and then they tracked the progress of it until it ended up on a rubbish heap in Nigeria.

What could happen here is that some 'clever' prick will bribe the truck driver who transports it to the recycling facility to dump some of the items somewhere for them to try and resell it, or try and recover the gold/copper from it and dump the rest on the street or a landfill. :(

I would however still take Makro up on this offer.
