Hi!

I have a very small IT support business and I would like to sell computers, components, printers etc. as well. I was keen to register as a dealer with companies like Mustek, Pinnacle and Corex, but, upon receiving pricelists from them, I find that I can almost always find better prices for the same items from places like Takealot, PC-link and a few other places.

Does anyone else struggle to find decent pricing from IT-suppliers?
Is there a way to bypass suppliers and buy directly from manufacturers without buying in bulk?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I buy from Pinnacle Africa mostly and a bit from Tarsus.

When you buy from them and want to act as a VAR, you need their proper support structures re. warranty, onsite support, extended payments structures and account and product managers you can rely on.

I'll never buy something from Takealot and sell it on. That's opening a can of worms.

But margins are thin. However as a VAR I add my 10% - 15%, depending on SLA's etc.

If a client buys from Makro or Game or IC or wherever, they're on their own of that item breaks.
