when i run the latest nero and burn a dvd data disk it takes average 30 minutes, while my winamp is playing. But when i access other programs while this is taking place there is a lag,is this normal,I have a 3.06 dual hyperthreading genuine intel processor with 1024ram.

So what iam saying is that the nero is burnig in the background, winamp is playing, nero gobbles about 350 mb of memory, but does it really use all the cpu power. Is this normal,I will like to know,I see also that when i access the task manager i have 2 cpu usage history graphs, meaning its duo core.Do you think the virtual part of my processors is messed up.I still dont understand the lag.

Is there a way i can disable the dual core and make it one processors and cut out the virtual processor:D

I installed the latest Nero (think it was ultimate) but uninstalled it because of all the services it creates in memory. It even installs its own search indexer like Microsoft Desktop search. Burning for me however was fine and I experienced no lag with 2Gb RAM.
I will go back to Nero Express

Not sure about the latest nero, the version I use only uses one core, so I dont really have problems. I'm with Adlo on this, go back to a previous version of nero and see if it still does it.

As for disabling dual core, I know vista has a feature in task manager where you right click on a process and you can assign it to 1 core (Set Affinity). Not sure of your OS but you can check it out.
