Ok I know this sounds crazy... but is it possible for a pc to learn A.I somehow???

To give an e.g; I usaully play Command and qonquer generals on lan and skirmish but sometime back when I whent online and played with overseas people the computer learned their strategies and when they sometimes cheat the computer does it exactly the same way that they did to me on a skirmish mode. (I had to reinstALL the game becuase of this...)

One of my friends can play the game very well on his pc in skirmish mode but when he plays on mine he can't even win the pc in medium settings. I also picked this up when playing Bf2 online. The bots also somehow learns other players tricks etc...?

Did anyone experience this before, or is it just my illusion?

thanks...

Well, I wouldn't put the programmers past it, so the bots learn your strategy and try to counter, however, if it was possible for a computer to learn AI, it assumes that the computer is not artificial, defeating the whole purpose. Artificial Intelligence... lol

Anyway, yes, they do learn your tricks, not sure how they store that info though. The idea is to make the game tougher so you have to think on your feet :D

it is very possible for the game to adapt.

even older games will attack at diffrent positions depending on how your defences are set up. this is just taking it a step further.

nope -youre hallucinating. STOP EATING THOSE MUCHROOMS.

The Maps in generals run on a scripting engine. If the script was changed, the behavior will change, but thats as far as it goes.

well obelix why can't my friend beat my pc on the medium settings but he can on his? eh?

i'm telling you when someone cheats on a online game of generals the computers learns it's modes and does it to me... in skirmish mode

lol:D

I used to play Quake 3 as if it was going out of fashion, and one thing I noticed when I keep replaying rounds that the bots became cleverer, or at the very least more difficult.. their tactics changed as well & some nights it really did seem as if they were doing the same things as me.. (no mushrooms, just extremely late nights in London tripping on Coca Cola :))

Forgot what game it was, the AI was pretty good, used to learn what you do and how you play so it adapts to how you do...in turn making it 10 x harder....Unreal bots? I think?

yea unreal had the best AI.

Far cry is not too bad either.

f.E.A.R wuz good too and Star Craft.

One day AI is going to be so good all the soldiers in some games are gonna realise they dont stand a chance against a playa who get reincarnated that they will simply join forces with you.

Well, one explanation is that your friend REALLY sucks at generals and that because you're a superior player and use all these cool tactics to defeat the computer, the computer learned from you and applies it to your poor dumbass friend

:D
