Hi guys,
Wonder if someone can share some light on my problem.
My parents PC was working on Tuesday, I was busy doing Windows updates and defragmenting. So it was working. And then parents used to check e-mail and internet banking on Wednsday morning, then my brother comes to me and tells me that the PC is not switching on. (My parents only use the PC for e-mail and internet banking, and brother for research for university)
I check and it turns on, but nothing loads up. No BIOS screen nothing. Both the lights for the hard drive and power are on, plus the CD ROM's light it on permenantly. I open it up and I feel the hard drive is not even spinning up. So I suspect the power supply has gone faulty. The only way to switch off is pulling out the power in the back. Holding the power switch does not turn the PC off.
I go out and buy a new PSU and I install it....same problem. No BIOS screen. Nothing. I disconnect everything and only put the power to the motherboard on and still nothing.
Celeron 2.4GHz 478pin
Gigabyte SiS motherboard
I pull out the memory and power up the PC. Now usually it beeps if there is no memory. Doesn't beep at all.
Also if I put the IDE cables in the CD ROM and HDD, then I don't feel HDD doesn't spin up and I cannot open the CD ROM tray. If I take out the IDE cables but leave the power in. I feel the HDD spin up and I can open and close the CD ROM tray.
I've tried reseting the BIOS. Same thing.
Anyone got any suggestions??
Is the motherboard gone?
Thanks,
:L:
