For some unknown reason my computer just shuts down by it'self, When rebooting it tells me that the 'CPU has changed and you need to put in the new settings in the BIOS'( How can the CPU change by it'self)...It also freezes (I have checked the graphics card)

It's definetly not a software problem as I have cleaned and reformatted the drive and definetly not a virus, this has been checked...Any ideas has what this could be?...Your input will be appreciated...

Reset your BIOS too "Default BIOS settings". or something that sounds similar would be my first try, also how hot does the processor run when you look in the BIOS?

Ok, this is a total long shot but i will give you something you might want to look at:

Did you put it into a case that used to have a different motherboard in it? If so, just have a look that there are none of those "copper risers" trapped beneath the motherboard (IE sitting under the motherboard, with no hole to place a screw in) I had a similar problem and found that one of those copper risers where trapped under the motherboard causing a short.

supersunbird...I have reset BIOS to default and then set the settings...This is not working...
ATI...You could have a point there but the thing is that whenever I upgrade I purchase a new case, now the only thing I can think of is maybe a screw or DUST has got under the mother board (We do have a lot of dust here where I live), I'm running a Intel Prescott Dual 3.2 Processor and running 5 fans, with the case open on one side....

CPU Temp: 35 cDegrees
Current system: 23c Degrees
CPU Fan Speed 2343 RPM...

Here's another longshot but I know the ASUS motherboards have the 1 setting where it allows windows to overclock your CPU whenever it needs the extra power, my 1 friend tried to use this to find it overclocks it at random to an extreme degree... eg from 2.2 to 3...

Which is the best way to test it?...

i would take everything a part...plont the motherboard on a cardboard box, and start adding components until you see what is causing it to give trouble

Thanks, I think that's my only option...

He is actually disabled, it's a way of personalizing your internal self, calling yourself your weakness or strong point, he's a cool dude too, so I would apologize if I were you ;)

Test Your Power Supply

I experience a problem like this before and a clever oke identified it straight away as a PSU problem which it turned out to be.
Hope it helps.

I think you read my message wrong, it wasnt an insult at him...
Rather an acknowledgement, props, kudos... Very creative name; for a forum that is.

Hey there.

There is one thing that I would like to add what u can try. Try to do a BIOS update on your machine.

You can also try to replace ur CMOS battery. I've got the same problem with a series of EPoX P4MKI Motherboards (Very entry Level spec boards). When I have done the BIOS updates, the machines worked 100%.

Hope the info is useful....

Good Luck!
