So I`m in the market for a lappy (Mecer w370et to be exact)
Both websites have identical pricing and format.
So whats the difference then? :confused:

They are exactly the same people and business, they just have two different websites.

It's same as ngrcomputers.co.za and importitall.co.za same people and business just two different websites.

I've bought from ComX before. While they're not very helpful and it felt like they're doing you a favour when you order a notebook from them, they are honest and do deliver.

@#$#@ at the service though,I`m the one paying 12k I expect to be treated nicely.
Oh well honesty and delivery is more important though.

I ordered from them just this week and can backup what ebendl said about the attitude. Although in my case they didn't deliver either. The were apparently here to deliver twice and there was "no one there". Firstly I was there, secondly, no one phoned me even once, or told me that they could not deliver, I had to mail them the whole time. Eventually cancelled my order and went straight to the supplier through someone else.

To be fair after the order was cancelled the money was refunded without a problem in a day, which is good. Also they have very good prices.
 
I ordered a laptop from them.

It was a simple process. Was in contact with Tony Daykin and replies were given out timeously about quotes, receipt of payment and that the order was ready for pickup by the courier. Its supposed to be arriving today, according to Fastway courier's website tracker but so far, so good.

Same here. :D

Made my payment yesterday, sent them a notification, received an email within 10 minutes saying they received it. At 10am today I received an email stating the order was waiting for the couriers and they gave me my tracking number. So far so good. The only question now is how the courier fairs, as my office is in a secured complex policed by hard ar$e and often unhelpful security, has multiple buildings in a not exactly sequential manner and many a courier has gotten lost here before.

It was you in the other thread about the gaming laptop, right ? Did you buy the Gigabyte or the Mecer barebones system ? :)

Eish.. I`l probably collect it though. Don`t want couriers desecrating my new toy.

Yeah, t'was me. I went for the Gigabyte because I found more positive feedback about it (I'm looking at you PostmanPot) and it has a superior graphics card. Plus the 2-year global warranty was a winner as well. What did you choose?

Not open on weekends and my people go to hell when I'm not around, so not much of a choice. Not ideal, but it is the more convenient option.

I have read that someone received a gammy laptop and laptopdirect/Comx immediately replaced it with a new one. I'll test everything when I get it though.

The very same. PotmanPot gave some really good advice. Spoke to the IT guy at work and he only had good things to say about Gigabyte laptops.

Not directed at me but I`l add to the discussion :p
There was the gigabyte Q1742N but its 1600x900,max 8gb ram and a GT640M
The Lenovo Y580 was either 1440x900 or 1920x1080
This Mecer which has the same parts as a Clevo which is also used in Sager lappys

Yeah but I`d rather trust a Dell/HP but bang for buck gigabyte/lenovo/mecer is the best.

I received an email at 5:30 yesterday afternoon telling me the couriers had collected the laptop. This morning I tracked the parcel and was told it arrived at the Jo'burg depot at 9pm last night. 9:00am this morning the courier delivered my new toy. Paid for an delivered in less than 48 hours :D

Service gets 11/10.

Unfortunately I can't really check it out now as I am at work, but I have switchd it on, done a bit of clicking, made sure it could read a disc and a USB and all looks good.
