Morning all,

I'm shopping around for a new laptop and found a nice one in my price range from comx/laptopdirect. I need to get in contact with them to make some arrangements before I can purchase it, but they're not responding to emails. I first emailed laptopdirect last Thurs, then sent a follow-up on Mon, then tried the comx email on Tues, even tried tweeting them yesterday, but so far no response. (Haven't tried msging them on FB yet as I don't have a FB account, but I doubt it'd help.)

They don't list their phone number on their website, so I was wondering if anyone has it (they must have a phone number, right?!)? Or maybe another means of contacting them? Would really appreciate it.

If you can't reach them, I wouldn't buy from them.

What if there is a problem and you need to get hold of them? If they don't respond to queries now, why would they respond after they have your money?

I'd rather buy from someone else better known and trusted, such as Wootware.

The guy at Comx has his system of working and he doesn't deviate from it. He only replies to emails (no phone calls) once you get to the stock-check stage of the process. And the stock-check is something you must do, you can pay without doing that first but not advised...

Ancalagon, that's a really good point. I've already ruled out a nice offering from evetech because of all the bad reviews about them (particularly with regard to returning things, which is a big concern of mine).

Alacrity: Seems like a strange way of doing business, and it's kinda off-putting. (I have a general query, why do I need to start checking for stock before he could be bothered to answer me? Particularly since I might not be able to buy from him, depending on his answer.)

Oh well, I'm now strongly leaning toward buying from Wootware or Rebeltech. They both have a similarly spec'd and priced laptop, but with less RAM. I guess I'll just upgrade the RAM myself.

Thanks guys, appreciate your comments.

Those two are highly regarded and you can't go wrong with either of them.

Sidenote - shows how important a company's brand is.
