Anyone ever do a comparison in Cape Town for mixing your own concrete versus a ready mix delivered by those trucks and poured?

Will be initially about 3m cubed, 5 at most.

You can buy pre mixed bags and just add water and mix with a shovel.

Not to be funny but do you realise how much 3 cubic meters is? Premix bags for days, like literally 150 of them.

For this volume you would use a mixer, order sand and stone and use bags of cement.

Lol it's volume, doesn't mean it will be 3 meters thick xD

You can add a plasticiser to ready-mix

12m long, 0.5 deep, 0.5 wide. Foundation for a boundary wall so guesstimate the height and width.

So generally it's cheaper to buy supplies yourself and just rent a mixer by the sounds of it.

I would guess so, but it's just a guess, all of the smaller development type activities I have seen involved self mixing on site.

Hey, what strength of concrete does your structure need? 15mpa, 20mpa or 25mpa? Workability of the concrete you need? More watery or normal? Ask yourself these questions before putting your structure at risk of collapse. I can do the calculations for materials needed incl water, stone, cement content and sand @ a price though.

I recently poured some countertops with pre-mix bags. First time using/mixing concrete.
The tops came out much better than I expected. For small jobs like this, I would always go for pre-mix.
Your situation sounds like you need a mixer and sand, stone, and cement mixed on site.

I despise mixing on site as no one can make a mess like okes who mix concrete. Insane what they can achieve.

This is vague to be honest it doesn't show every calculation and where did they got the numbers. Type of cement used, water needed, ect

Get a proper builder, foundations have to be inspected, at least here in Cape Town.
