Hey all!

Does our favorite ISP allow more than one connection to one account?

I'm thinking about having two iBurst modems, but connecting it to one account and therefore one cap.

I'm pretty sure a friend of mine does this with his iBurst, one at home and one in the office, used at the same time though.

Either way you'd have to phone them to tie the account number to your second modem, so just phone and ask. But I think it is possible.

We have one account and 2 modems in 2 separate locations used simultaneously. They just need to link the second modems UTID number to your existing account.

If you went to iburst's website you'd have had your answer.

If you go down to: Dual Wan Port Router

You'll see it says:
Connect your network at twice the speed!
The iBurst dual wan router allows you to connect two iBust modems for faster browsing and greater through-put.
This device offers an integrated 8-port Fast Ethernet switch, dynamic load balancing with automatic fail-over, a high performance firewall and Stateful Packet Inspection. Protocol Binding for the total control of the data moving through the router is included.

Yes - this is indeed quite possible. I have setup clients with this arrangement. You need to just send a request to your reseller and they have to process it manually.

I phoned iBurst today and they said it wasn't possible. Did I just get through to one of the many morons who don't actually know what they're talking about, or is it only available with certain accounts?

I did read your post. I think you might be the one misunderstanding here. I do know somebody who uses a single account on two modems. I see conflicting information being supplied here. Such as the information that ambo and jhbgirl have posted.

I'm pretty sure the router you're talking about is to increase your speed, so obviously you'd need two accounts for that. Kind of like how ISDN 128 made two connections at once to get the throughput, and you paid for two separate phonecalls. What I'm looking for is to able to use two different modems so that I can have my iburst at home and iburst with my laptop when I'm at university. Two different locations.

iBurst tech support are clueless. "Eh.. noh, u hav to bai second account" *right*

Just give them the UTID of the second modem, and they can link it for you.

Anyone tried 3 modems? I haven't been unfortunate enough to be within reach of 3 at the same time. *phew*

Must say, iBurst speeds don't disappoint - if you're in a well-covered area. Definitely cached content they're feeding you, though.

Thanks, Tunasashimi. I just didn't want to buy a second modem and then find out that I couldn't do it. iBurst modems are a wee bit pricey.

I am impressed with iBurst speeds, indeed. It would help me infinitely if I could use my iBurst at my University since University computers are disease-riddled.
