Anyone ever go to a conference and actually learn something useful / get something useful out of it (work related that is ) that you wouldn't have been able to through a miriad of other sources, at a fraction of the cost / time / effort

Don't get me wrong ... I love going to conferences ... getting paid to do nothing all day and then getting a free party at the end of it is fantastic! (not to mention the hilarity of how willing people are to lose their clobber when away from home and with couple of "brannewyns" under the belt)

I go for the networking opportunities and the parties. I did learn last time to never mix vodka, limoncella and tequila on an empty stomach though...

I guess after enough of those you could arrive at a point where that could be considered a

work related
