Hi,

Anyone know how to configure the Telkom 5100 router for a specific port ? Am installing eDonkey but it says "unreachable" and that it is likely the router which needs setting. eDonkey is allowed through the Zone Alarm firewall.

Thanks

John

Hi JVO

To open up a specific port on the 5100, you need to configure your routers NAT table.
Access your 5100 and click on the NAT link under advanced options.
This will open up a screen where three NAT options are displayed, on default it should be set to SUA only, click on the Edit Details link next to the SUA only option, this will take you to the routers NAT table.

In the NAT table you can specify what port range you want forwarded to a specific PC.
E.g. Start Port no. = 4094, End Port no = 4662, IP address = 10.0.0X.
The above example will tell the router to forward all traffic on ports 4094 ~ 4662 to the PC on the LAN with IP address 10.0.0.X.

Hope it helps.

Hi Ru-D

Thanks for the response, much appreciated - have been away from the PC...

Hope this isn't a silly question but how do I access the 5100 ? I have the utility that came with the modem installed but running that doesn't give the options you specify.

Thanks again

John

open your browser and type:
http://192.168.1.254

and bob is your uncle

Thanks,

Was being a bit thick !! Your http://192.168.1.254 comes up with "Page cannot be displayed" however I did access the config and the NAT table by browsing to 10.0.0.2.

Am afraid I am a bit confused by the advice re the IP address in Ru-D's reply. Don't know what the 10.0.0.0X is..... Again, apologies if this is basic stuff.

Cheers

John
