Configuring reverse dns when not hosting forward lookup zones

Hey guys, Im wondering if anyone can help me.
I have a server hosted at Hetzner running ubuntu server, the problem is that Im getting some bounced mails that are sent from it because there is no rDNS lookup configured.
I have no problem setting something like this up when Im doing the DNS hosting etc, but in this case the DNS is being hosted by another ISP. I need to get the rDNS lookups resolving though on the machine at Hetzner, so what I wanted to know is - has anyone done this before?
What would do you in a circumstance like this?
n.b I cant take over the hosting of forward lookup zones due to the client refusing to move the DNS hosting from the current provider.

Any ideas?

Create your A with host x and have the A record point to the server at hetzner
Then mail Hetzner and ask them to create the matching ptr.

I have a feeling Hetzner wont play along with that, its a unmanaged server in their hosting infrastructure, afaik they only provide hardware and an internet connection for it. But its definitely worth a try, thanks for the info.

They own the address block in which that IP address resides - so it falls to them to create the PTR record as their NSs are the authority.
 
Thanks guys, logged a request with them. I way prefer when I can do stuff myself... like fixing my httpd :p
 
I've had most of my servers with them and have 2 with them now. They are quite good and always willing to assist. I can say I request PTR record changes monthly with them always assisting.
