Hi all.

I've been trying to find out what I need to cover me during load shedding, but there's so much info and so many products at wildly different prices. For instance:

http://www.geewiz.co.za/inverters/5310-mecer-1200va-720w-inverter-battery-charger-ups.html at 1400 rand

but then you have something like this for +/- 4000 rand. http://www.ellies.co.za/electrical/FBIT2000

I feel la bit stupid asking because I feel like I'm missing something very obvious. I don't need to power a lot. Basically a 40" LCD, the decoder, Xbox, modem, and a lamp. Maybe a laptop if battery is running low. (We always get hit at the 8-10pm slot.)

the one for 4k has battery's, the first one you posted has no battery's (you connect your own)

Hi Paul PM me and I'll send you some info

I bought the R4089 setup , Mecer , from Geewiz with just the one 102AH battery. Lasted 4 hours yesterday with what you mention and still had oomph when I switched it off.
Collected at their office which was very busy, a good sign.

ps. Don't fall into the same trap that I did…..too much reading. Just go and buy it.

^If you load that system close to full 720w capacity, you'll only enjoy around 30 min of backup power.

That's the one Paul C except that is an old offer. Now 4089. Your needs are nowhere near 720w and so no need to worry about that. Now stop reading before the guys with the graphs and formulii come haunting this thread.
I was caught by the technical mumbo jumbo and it turned out to be a whole lot of negative crap written by people that needed a push to get going.
Just do it !!!

Hi I'm looking to cover max 22 Amps or 5060Va over loadshedding.

What would this bad boy offer?
Mecer 10,000VA 6U ON-LINE SINE WAVE - ME-10000-GRU with 20 x 12V 9Ah batteries

Will it cover the load for 2.5 hours - will I deplete my batteries below 50% DOD?
