Confused first time fibre user

Ah.. Yes Vumatel is different (sorry missed that). You plug in a PC in the ONT and then get directed to their portal to choose your ISP (as far as I have read).
 
So Cool Ideas cannot help with installing fibre for us this is because OpenServe doesnt have fibre in our complex very surprising because we have people running fibre and we supposedly have a splice box somewhere. The consultant i spoke to suggested i get ADSL. I do not want ADSL. If i check on Openserve it says i have fibre and i should select an ISP and if i select Cool Ideas it takes me back to their website to fill out the same form that i did before. Seriously confused [MENTION=394133]PBCool[/MENTION] am i doing something wrong here?

Do you have a photo of the splice box? I would send this off to [email protected] for them to investigate for you.

I did thanks, they insist they might not have access to the complex. Oh well, i tried. I will move on. :cry:

Find out from your neighbor who the fibre provider is, if it's Openserve then let connect know this and we will push for it. Often Openserve has deployed and havent updated their own coverage maps, we then have to manually request a service.
 
Why is the business package twice the price of the residential one? This confuses me since I use less bandwidth at my office than at home, no streaming or downloading but its double the price for the same speed? What does the location I use it at matter?

A business usually has many users, a home usually does not? So it's a different business case and product.

Well, that could be true in some cases but maybe youre thinking of Big business. The average small business uses less bandwidth than a home user for the reasons I stated before.

My business, for example, uses on average 80 to 100 GB a month (voip included) and has 3 users. I would think that any small business that is not internet oriented would be kind of the same. At home I have 4 users on plenty of devices streaming media and gaming and downloading. We use 500 to 800 GB a month (depending mostly on what games are included in the humble bundle monthly :p).

It just doesnt make sense to me that the former should be double the latter, especially when the features of the latter is the basis on which the product is sold.

Could I just get the home package at my office? I'm looking for speed, not volume.

We define a "business" as more than 5 users, if you have less than that, you can apply for home.

It can be often, IE a business park in a Vumatel area would have Vumatel fibre. It would probably have DFA which then attracts different pricing.

They use Openserve infrastructure and this is the 8th time phoning your call centre and they said its locked for you guys. Not sure why it would be locked for other ISPs and for others it will be on the same infrastructure. Are you able to check for me?

We have heard of it being locked to Telkom alone, but not 3rd party providers, can you PM me your most recent ticket and I will see what the feedback is from Openserve.
