Confused

I was actually looking at gas geysers and in reality the cost isn't that worth it, besides not relying on Eskom. I mean with my electric geyser and 3 showers with the occasional bath, my electrical usage is around 300 units a month, this is taking into account my stove/oven + the dipping into Eskom once in awhile to top up the batteries.
Sure some days we hit 17 units a day and others we use 4, but still the average is 300. Now a gas geyser for 3 people with the same usage would be more expensive.
I've got a gas geyser (and stove) and I don't care so much about the cost as about being able to have hot water when I need it.
Not regretting putting it in.

I haven't used an electric geyser or stove in years. Geyser is solar, stove is gas. Do I still have to pay R3000 to monitor/control of nothing???????
the cost is covered by local gubberment and yes it will be installed .

how many in your house and what was the hot water usage before? Cause I mean if I am only spending R700 on electricity now, would me spending R500 on gas really be worth it?

I do wonder if a drive for gas geysers won't be more efficient in the long run? However, I assume LPG prices will skyrocket if the demand suddenly increases tenfold, with possible shortages?
the 6 litre per minute gas units where you can set the temp accurately are economical ,the 18 litre and upwards ones can have an appetite for gas .

There's no ROI to having gas, correct. As a single person, I have to replace a 19KG every 4 months, but I'm a little more heavy on usage and do enjoy a bath. The 2x D batteries also needs replacements once a year, so it becomes ~ R 2000 a year on gas and about ~R 150 for batteries, assuming you buy Duracell.

That said, I always have warm water. My parents have a 'solar' geyser, and if they want to shower on a Sunday morning before church while loadshedding just happened, you can forget about hot water, especially during winter.

2 adults in the house.
I haven't done a full analysis yet, but our electricity usage has definitely gone down.
I'm buying a 19kg bottle about once every 2.5 months. But that includes the gas stove.

I thought the glorious cape had the super woke DA and had no loadshedding? Just use eskom.
The Pope sees far into the future, stage thirty eleventy and 11118% price Eskom hike. The woke DA only latched on some red tape, set some solar tariff traps. Better get your gas shower now. As far as I know, a gas geyser is much cheaper than heating with Eskom, a gas geyser does not loose heat in storage, and it heats instantly.
