Hi all, I'm new to this, and seriously confused.
I'm getting 3 lights on the modem, a signal of 12% on base station 126 and the frequency is 2.530
According to the zone locator, I have no coverage in my area ! My location is in Glenhazel (Jhb), about two blocks from Balfour Park shopping center. Is there any way that I can find out which tower I am using ? Theoretically Linksfield is the closest as I can see Linksfield Ridge from my house.

which is closest to you?

Jhb Horizon View [126], 27.52.11,26.08.32, 120 - 240
Jhb Hurlyvale [126], 28.09.14,26.08.42, 0
Jhb Marlboro North [126], 28.05.45,26.05.07, 0 - 240
Jhb Sentech Tower (Brixton) [126], 28.00.26,26.11.31, 0 - 120 - 240
 
I'd guess that I'm about equidistant from Hurlyvale & Marlboro North, although they are 90 degrees apart. My Pringles can is pointing in the direction of Marlboro North

It sounds like you've found a tower thats overshooting its coverage, if thats the case, you can't connect to a tower further than 6km from you.

I suggest you go to nicroets tower calculator @ http://rational.co.za/Mywireless/calculate.html, plug in your co-ordinates, and see whether any of the base stations 126 are are within your range, i doubt they are.

If you do find a tower in your range, I'd try calling one of the signal testers, and see if they can help you connect to that particular tower.

Or maybe an old ITMan that's drawn high fences around your in-house activities (surely not, as I don't believe Nando's to be that kind of organisation)? Errol, i am using linksfield tower.i am in same position as u without patch antenna.

get a patch you'll get 25% (not 25% off by the way)
