Is the network SEVERELY congested during the day or is it just me?

Downloads hit around 30KB/s max and it's almost impossible to enjoy a good game of team fortress 2 because my ping fluctuates between 100 and 400 to the local IS servers.

Just to clarify a few things: I have 2 modems, 1 for my family to use and I connect directly to the other so there's no chance of other people using the internet while I'm trying to play. I also live very close to the tower and get full signal where if the time is right I can hit speeds 125-130KB/s.

You are lucky with that speed. We don't even get that with a 2Mbps modem during the day.
I got happy yesterday with 1.2Mbps, but the happiness was short lived. Went back to the usual 0,15 to 0,30Mbps shortly afterwards again.

My question though is whether its my tower that's congested or the network itself, because if torrents are heavily shaped and the network still runs like balls during business hours then what are/can Iburst do about it? I mean it's not like they can just take more wireless frequency space (forgive my ignorance of the correct terminology here).

Network issue.
Everything was running 100% fine by me here in Pta until about 3 weeks ago.

Used to regularly see over 2Mbps during the day, now it crawls along.

Im seriously getting annoyed with the lack of feedback or help on forums by iBurst. What the hell is going on iBurst?

Well so far today isn't looking any better >.<

I even tried playing Team Fortress 2 from 10 onwards last night, I constantly get lag spikes and I constantly get warnings from the server that I will be kicked due to excessive ping. So will forward you my UTID when I get a chance cause maybe something funny is definitely going on :/

See my gruesome experience the last 2 weeks

Query:
Since yesterday my iBurst connection has been up and down the whole time. When it is up, it is dog slow. Most of the time it is not working at all, and I have to force a manual re-connect. This is not a setup issue, since it has been running like it is now for 2 years without anything changing. I have a 94-96% signal quality. This is in the Centurion/Raslouw area. Can you please investigate?

Response 6 days later:
Good day

So I reply again because I'm still having problems:
It is kinda ridiculous that it takes up to 6 days to respond to a query.

The problem is intermittent. I experienced it twice last week, where the iburst would be connected and the signal quality 100%, but I can't open any websites.
If one works, it is usually gmail for some reason.

I've never experienced this before switching to the Pro 10+ account.

On Friday night I phoned the helpdesk, and apparently there was a total network outage (according the the technician). I find it interesting that the Incident Report doesn't reflect this though.

Either way, the point is that for 2 years I haven't really had issues, but in the last week service has been intermittent, and when it was working the speeds are slow.

Nothing has changed on my side. I have 100% signal quality with an external antenna.

Regards

Good day

Thank you for contacting iBurst Helpdesk and we apologize for the late reply.

Please be advised that we did have issues but it has been resolved, with regards to speed please move your modem around or closer to the window.

Check if the firewall is not affecting your signal. Update your spyware & your antivirus package.

For any other assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the iBurst Helpdesk at email address, [email protected] or the Contact Centre on 087 720 2020.

At this point I almost exploded, probably should've waited before replying:
Thanks for not reading anything I said in my previous query.

I have an external antenna with 100% signal quality. What difference is moving my modem around going to make?

My setup as is has been working 100% for 2 years as is. My software on my pc is always up to date. And my firewall settings didn't change. The only thing that changed is me upgrading to your Pro 10+ package.

Regards

Sigh ... what to do ?

I like how it looks like the beginning of the message has been predefined :p

Good day

Im experincing many disconnects tonight, even after the rain tonight. Speeds seems to be very erratic tbh, not sure what is going on.

Last night I think was due to weather. It could be your tower is overloaded during peek times, one option is to try point or find another tower near by?

I just find it strange, you'll join a game and ping will be fine at between 80-100, then out of nowhere it starts rising to 400-800 and you have to quit the game (you'll get kicked anyway) and then manually disconnect and reconnect to bring it down again. Normally I would have thought it does that when something else tries to use the internet but this is why I got a 2nd modem for just me to use independently of the other modem the rest of my family uses >.<
