After a year and half since the first internet wobble began, Telkom has finally managed to fix the exchange congestion in Simonstown/Da Gama Park. To all those who no longer remember a time where they could load a Youtube clip and watch it immediately, to those who've forgotten what a steady download looks like, to those who are unable to play online games without having stalls where nothing moves and you're just hoping it comes back before you're dead - yes, eventually Telkom CAN get off their collective asses and fix their network.

I want to say thank you to all the fine men and women at the Telkom call centre who were so helpful during the whole process:

"We've tested your line and the quality of your line is fine"
"If the internet is slow at certain times of the day then you should go do something else at those times. I remember one person who called always had a problem at 7pm and that was due to the street lights coming on that interfered with his line. There's nothing we can do."
"Your speed test figures look fine, it's really based on best effort." (after sending them tests on guest@telkomadsl of between 37KB/sec and 74KB/sec on a 4Mbps line)
"Ah yes, we can see the exchange is congested. Well we're aware of it, but it really just depends on when the budget for upgrading it comes through. Not really anything we can do till then."

Anyway this forum is full of people with exchange congestion problems that seem to have gone on forever and eventually you lose faith that Telkom actually has any engineers on the ground doing anything. Solidarity with my exchange congested brothers and sisters in Stellenbosch, La Lucia, and beyond... one day your time will come.

Now I must just not jinx it and have Telkom f--- my line up again.
