Connect 2 iBurst 1mB/sec modems together for better speed?

there is difference in memory/cpu/port speed between the 750 and the 750GL,
following is the major difference.
750GL = gigabit , 64MB memory
750 = 10/100Mb, 32MB memory

memory depends on how much firewall/mangle rules you setup, i have a ton and still have a lot left.
the gigabit lan is nice to have faster transfers between server/desktop/laptop.
what I am really missing is a wireless connection, there is new models out like the 754GL with wireless, just haven't seen their prices yet.

these devices are actual routers very powerfull, the other stuff that I see I consider as toys.

If budget is not you problem, take 3 silver surfers and you will have a 6Mb conection :D

Just thinking i might go for the cheaper one get another desktop modem, link the 2 to getrher conect my linksys to the rb just for its wifi

OK, thanks to you I've managed to acquire a RB750.
Now I wonder if you would be so kind as to pass on the setup instructions to configure the unit to accept 2 x wan port inputs.

Hi, I know the post is old but just in case people are still looking up this stuff I'll share some of my info.

I am using two 1mb ADSL connections from Telkom. Now before you start shouting (just get a 2mb line from MWEB) or something, this is why.

Firstly, believe it or not, but Telkom's offer is MUCH better for me. Mweb's upload speed is only 256k on this package, and I think even their 4mb package only offers 256k upload. With Telkom, I get a 512k per line. With load balancing I effectively have a 1mb upload. I need a decent upload because I do a lot of screen sharing over the internet.

I was deciding between the http://www.scoopdistribution.co.za/product_info.php?products_id=1184 (Tenda router) and the other Mikrotik routers people have linked to. I decided on the Tenda in the end, because it is MUCH easier to use. It took me about 5 minutes to get everything running, and while I'm tech savvy I am not a networking professional.

The Mikrotik routers can link up to 4 internet connections (5th port used to connect to network), but the setup looked too much like a ball ache to me.

With the load balancing set to auto on the Tenda, I am getting fantastic internet. If you are streaming on one port (like youtube etc) you will only get the speed from 1 of your connections for that video. But if you start browsing other sites, checking email, using skype etc it will automatically use your alternative connection.

Programs like uTorrent and Free Download Manager that split files and download separately have the benefit of being able to maximize both your internet connections.

I needed the upload for decent screen sharing so I can run online webinars. With the load balancing option, things like anymeeting.com was still way too slow for me to even consider because it would still only use one connection. Whereas locally installed software like Skype works brilliantly.

If you are looking for a simple load balancing option, get the Tenda. It's about R300 more than the mikrotik, but it is much easier to setup and it works very well.

I'm getting a 1mb Iburst desktop modem this weekend and would also like to connect it together with my current 1mb desktop modem.

I have a hp procurve 408 J4097B with 10/100base TX Ports, will this work?
I found a RB750 will this maybe be a better option for me than my HP??

....or will it also work if I connect both modems to my PC via usb cable and just bridge the connection?

And I was told you can use up to 3 modems per account. Can I use all three modems on different computers with my same log-in details at the same time?

The RB750 has been mentioned before and looks like it should work. Apparently, any router that has RouteOS on it should be fine.

AFAIK, you can't connect two USB cable modems to the PC (only one will be picked up). You should be able to connect and bridge two Ethernet connections (provided your Mobo has two Ethernet slots).

Yes you can. I'm doing this atm on my work PC and two home PCs without any issues.
