Hi there,

I've been to the following thread: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...urst-1mB-sec-modems-together-for-better-speed

There they are talking about connecting two Desktop modems using a router. With the USB only modems, I have found (and please correct me if I'm wrong) you cannot connect these modems using a router because the OS on the routers does not support the software for the modems.

Any ideas on connecting 2 USB only modems together?

Thanks in advance.

Technically, it's because the OS on the routers does not have a driver for the USB modem.

Raspberry Pi

You can call it a PiBurst^2. :D

I meant to say that :D

LOL! :p

Section 1.8.1 of the RPi guide says:
1.8.1. Internet Connectivity
This may be via an Ethernet/LAN cable (standard RJ45 connector) or a USB WiFi adaptor. The RPi
Model B Ethernet port is auto-sensing which means that it may be connected to a router or directly
to another computer (without the need for a crossover cable).

I am really clueless how this would work :( How would you connect 2 USB Only modems using the RPi?

The RPi has two USB ports, but you can add a USB hub if you want to add a USB WiFi adpater and make it work as a wireless router as well.
In fact, the USB hub may necessary if they RPi cannot supply enough power for two iBurst modems.

You'll need to compile the iBurst USB driver for the RPi yourself though.

A couple of posts after than is a picture of a Nexus 7 connected to an iBurst USB modem.

Yes, they do recommend the hub with an external power source to not put unnecessary strain on the RPi.

Ah ok, thanks that makes sense. I think I've actually followed your guide before for installing iBurst drivers on Linux but that was quite some time ago.

Now to just get the RPi :)
