Hi everyone. I jus moved in to a new complex. The dstv connection here uses fibre only.

1.How do i connect from the wallbox to the decoder? Which cable do i need to buy?
2.Do i need to pay ISP in order to view dstv via decoder?

1. Depending on the model of Decoder, from 1 to 4 male-to-male Coax cables, connected from the Decoder satellite receiver ports to the wall box.

2. Only a valid DSTV subscription is required.

I think you missed that it is fibre only, so only streaming services available, no dish I am assuming

Perhaps he meant the satellite connection wall box. If not, he's on DSTVnever only.
1. Post photo of wallbox so we can see the connector.
2. Maybe

PS You still need a valid TV Licence, Thank You
1. It will clarify things.

My wallbox has one of these green connectors only. Then its written dstv. Theres another separate wallbox written Internet

Try this? dstvcommunalinstallation.co.za/?portfolio=jhon-jenny

Sounds like a smart village connection to me.

I have the same setup in my apartment. It's called DStv over fibre

Do you have the DStv Fibre Termination Unit or Smart FTU as they call it? That's the box to which your green connector plugs into (DStv fibre signal). The FTU then provides the coaxial Unicable outputs for the decoder

1. Something like F to F connector Coaxial cable
2. No ISP required.

Some links with more info: DStv Over Fibre
This is the Fibre Termination Unit I was referring to

To be honest I don't know if this is a DIY job, you may need an installer ;)

If its clearly labelled "dstv" and not data or something else, then you'll need the Unit to convert the optical signal to coaxial cable

Good luck.

i opened it. It looks like this. I clearly need to get a Converter plus Cables

Hi all, I am having the same issue. Any idea where I get this box from? The installer wants to charge me R3500

I believe you need the FTU, but they do seem to be rather scarce

I went to ACDC in pineslopes here in fourways. They wanted 10k for the fiber termination point. They where even shocked with the price.

I then called DSTV and they did not know that their decoders can work with fiber. Was put on hold for a long time and when the agent returned, she advised that the only company in South Africa that supplies fiber termination point is a company called RS components. I then proceed to call them but they don't seem know anything about a fiber termination point.

I ain't going to pay R3500 or R10000 to watch DSTV adverts.

they have tons of networking things, maybe phone or email them and they'll point you in the right direction
