connect laptop to tv

i want to connect my laptop to my old 54cm tv in my room. now the problem is the tv only has yellow and white connectors (maybe called rca or composite, i'm clueless in these matters) and the laptop has dvi, hdmi and s-video connectors.

i have found a S-VIDEO TO 3 RCA . would this work - i want picture and sound?

if possible, also where i can buy your suggestions from

Should work, it just would not be stereo. Yellow is video and white and red is stereo and then it would be on AV1/ 2. Video to watch movies etc would be oraait but do not expect crisp text

Should work, but you'll only have video (the yellow, called composite video plug). To have sound you'd need another cable, that has the 3.5mm stereo plug on one end and the red & white RCA's on the other. Plug that one into the headphone plug on the laptop and the white one into the TV, it will only be mono sound since that's all the TV supports.

The audio cable should be fairly easy to get, Makro, Game, even some large Pick & Pay's have them, any shop with an AV department. The S-Video one might be a bit harder to find, but the same sort of shops should have them.

You sure your tv doesn't save a s-video connector? Mine does. s-video will only give you video, perhaps get a set of external speakers...

right idea wrong cable, you just need and svideo to single rca (just the yellow one) the one you show has audio cables but the port out of the laptop doesnt have audio for soudn you need this one - http://www.hdcabling.co.za/2-meter-svideo-to-rca-cable-svideo-to-composite-p-102.html and for sound connect this cable in the earphone jack http://www.flatheadenterprises.com/wp-content/uploads/rca_to_mini.jpg ther are avalaible at mackr , game, pick and pay hyper etc

so i need a r27 cable (nice) but then i also need additional speakers (as i don't want lugg my pc speakers around) and a connection cable to the speakers

No aditional speakers, you can conect the laptop to the tv spekers, see the pictures of the cable you need for that on my other post above.

used to run my old pc to my tv that way.

needs extra cables for sound (stereo to av)
