Can you help a total layman here, if your phone has USB and bluetooth ports e.g. Nokia 6730: Is it possible to connect a separate QWERY keyboard to it? To help with typing. Maybe you'll need to power the keyboard with its own batteries though I suspect. Your phone will have to support the additional input device of course - don't know if you might need downloads. Or perhaps such a device exists already? You can give me the brand name - i seem to recall there was a logitech one a while back. Thanks!

I have used a bluetooth keyboard on both a Nokia 6110 Navigator and Nokia N81 when we had to do some software testing. It works pretty well.

Although the phone has a usb port, it can't act as a usb host, so usb peripherals will not work.

thanks, in other words any blth keyboard that you'd use on a PC would work on a cellphone as well? Or will it just work on smartphones.

it depends. All of the phones I have had have been able to connect and use my BT keyboard. The easiest way to check is to search for detailed spefications and check if the BT has the HID profile. Unfortunately they are often not clear about it.

Thanks i'll have a look. P.s. apologies for the 5-star rating... i wanted to rate the replies of you guys and not my own thread :)

P.s Nokia's own reply:
==========

With regard to your enquiry, kindly be informed that some phone can use Nokia recommended keypad compatible with them, however this phone does not support such keypad, but if the issue in question is a text messages or MMS related, you can connect your phone with Nokia PC suite and send your sms and MMS directly from your computer.
