I have an XP pc which is set up to allow it's internet connection to be shared by other pc's on the network ( client doesn;t want anyone on the net unless she has made the adsl connection.

Now they have a Media box running Vista which they also want to be able to access the internet through the XP ICS.

I can see the xp sharing pc from the media centre and can ping the router ( 10.0.0.2)

What I cant find out how to do is configure the vista centre to connect via the xp ics. There doesnt seem to be an option to tell the Vista pc to connect ' through ' another pc on the network;.

What am I missing ?

Both pc's have the same name right? I would have thought vista would pick up the internet connection automatically.

Same name - same workgroup ?

Hmmm.... I actually didnt check.

XP is on WORKGROUP - not sure what the default is for Vista.

Would they need to be on the same workgroup to just share the internet connection?

No there is for sure, i would imagine leaving ip's off both pc's would be best but i am not 100% sure but it seems as if this is like trying to share a vista printer with an xp pc, very hard to accomplish.
