Connecting a second router to a B315

Hi,
I'm currently using a B315 router with a sim. Soon I'll be getting my hands on a dual band 802.11a/n/ac router (not sure about the model, the person is just giving it to me because he no longer needs it). Since I use an LTE based internet connection, can I use the B315 as a modem to the new router? If so, will it bottle the new router and it's capabilities?

Can the B315 be placed in bridge mode?

No it can not be placed in bridged mode.
Make sure they have different ip address ranges.
Connect 1 of the B315 lan ports to the "new" router's wan port.
Disable WIFI on the B315.
Enable firewall on 1 of the devices, not both.

What I did with the B315 when I where still using it, was to switch everything off, WIFI Firewall DHCP, NAT, UPNP etc. Then it is just a "modem". Then on your new device configure the WAN port with static ip say 192.168.8.2, netmask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.8.1 and google DNS. 192.168.8.1 is the default IP for the B315.

That sounds easy enough. But quick question, compared to only using the B315, did the new router perform better in terms of WiFi connection stability, coverage etc.?

I used a mikrotik router for failover between Telkom Uncapped LTE (B315) and RAIN 4G (B618) with Ubiquity Mesh Wifi. So I can not comment on your new router. And I'm a bit old school, if I want network performance I used 1GB lan cables.
