Hi guys,

I'm a noob at pc stuff. I got my pc yesterday and i tried to connect it to my bravia 32". My processor is an i5 750 and the motherboard is an Asus P7H55-M PRO. The reason i'm mentioning this is that i read somewhere that the i5 750 will not handle the integrated graphics on the board. Anyway, there is also a 5770 in there so that is okay i guess. I'm using an hdmi cable to plug into the TV at the moment. I do not have an OS installed on the box yet.

The problem that i am getting is that when i boot the machine i am met with a black screen instead of going to the BIOS menu (not sure how the behavior of a PC is when you have no OS on, i expected to see a BIOS menu instead of a black screen?). Not sure if anybody came across this? I suspect that i either have to try another monitor or i have to use a vga/dvi cable instead of the hdmi cable?

Any ideas please?

You do realise you have to press a key in order to access the BIOS, generally F2 or del, right?

Make sure the display is plugged into the correct HDMI socket (Which is probably the other one it's currently plugged into) and then disable the onboard graphics in the BIOS, in order to keep things simple.

The 750 doesn't have the integrated GPU, so the onboard graphics won't work on that motherboard, as you correctly stated. I'm hardly an expert on the i-series though, so not exactly sure how this should be approached.

Did you plug the HDMI cable into the motherboard's HDMI port or the 5770's HDMI port?

It should be the latter, as the HDMI of the motherboard won't work with the 750.

Also, you bought the 5770, so you may as well forget that your motherboard has an HDMI port, as you won't ever use it with the 750.
