Connecting Xbox with Laptop

How do I connect my Laptop with my Xbox?

I managed to setup my Xbox to connect with Media Centre and share media via MC, but I when I try to connect to PC, the screen were it shows the Xbox connecting to PC - it shows that the Connection is wired but the IP adress always fail.

What must I do that the Xbox and the Laptop could be on the same IP range?

I did try to make the IP adresses static, but it still dont work

sorry to hijack but tried briefly to connect my xbox to my laptop with my phone as a modem but when setting up the ICS it says theres an error and the ip address (192.168....) is already in use by another device (or something to that effect). Im not connected to another router at the mo.

Am i going about this the wrong way? ie: smartphone -> ICS -> laptop -> ICS Just isnt gonna work?

ICS sets the sharing device IP to 192.168.0.1,so check that the xbox isnt using that IP aswell
