Hi.

Need some help. Connection keeps dropping when one of the 3 wired pc's either disconnects from the network or restarts. Doesn't happen when a wireless laptop restarts or disconnects.

Router is a Zyxel VMG1312-B10A on a vdsl 40mbps connection.

Any help would be appreciated.

One of your plugs arent grounded somewhere...

Also is the router powered by the same phase as the wired PCs? *Might* contribute to the problem.

That is the worst router I've ever used. Perhaps it could be the hardware in the router itself causing the issue. I returned that Zyxel router and a Zyxel range extender I bought because neither of them worked as they should have.

Do yourself a favor and get a better router. I got an Asus DSL-N66U after that one and I couldn't be happier. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but at least I'm getting my money's worth.

Moral of the story: Stay away from Zyxel :)

Each pc is on a different plug and the laptop isn't plugged in. The one pc is on the same plug as the router. Even when laptop gets disconnected which is using a wired connection but not plugged into a power point it disconnects.

Router works fine except for this issue.

what happens if you only have 2 pc's plugged in and shut one doen? does the other one shut down?

I'm thinking along the lines of the router's voltage being low.

No only the network goes down for a few secs.
