My antenna was installed on Saturday and my connection speed increased from about 325kbps to an average of 850 - 900kbps. I am definitely not complaining about that, but I noticed on the dashboard that the connection is not constant. It will jump from 350kbps to 950kbps, just to drop to 500kbps again. On average, it will be just under 900.

The same applies if I do a speed test (on Gamco). I just tested it again, and the two different readings I got in 5 seconds was 955kbps and 652kbps.

Is there a logical explanation for this (such as that this is the way wireless operates), or is there something I can do to stabalise it on a good connection. :o

Yes, mine does the same - like I've said before, sometimes it's up and down like a guy on his last 5 minutes with an expensive hooker.

Clear skies = excellent signal.

I would love for my connection chart to flatline! The thing goes absolutely crazy. In a previous post I complained about the same thing and someone told me that this should be fixed if I install a Antenna....well...if I look at ppsking's post,, it looks as if an antenna will not fix the problem completely.

Is ppsking's antenna not focused enough on one tower or is it the wind that blows his signal away? Has anybody sort of solved this issue?

I also thought an antenna will solve this problem. Maybe I am inbetween two towers. I am not complaining about the speed I am getting, but it is rather annoying to see the dashboard jumping up and down. At least then you will know what your true speed is..........now I am not always sure.
