I have a Nokia 6680 with a 3G bundle, and I'm currently using Nokia PC Suite to connect, which I hate. What is the username and password I have to put in if I want to use the phone as a standard modem? And what number do I put in to dial? And will it still use 3G if I set it up this way? Help will be appreciated.

not sure if 3G is the same as GPRS/EDGE, but I would think so.

phone number is *99#
username/password you can leave blank or put in whatever your hart desires

The Username and password should be left blank , ie none
The number is *99#

Use the pc suite wizzard it does work and just select mtn.
And also
AT*CGDCONT=,,"internet"<cr>
must be in the initialize modem command or the phone keeps disconnecting.

Thanx for the quick replies guys. I can't seem to find the place for modem initialisation commands?

*EDIT* Sorry found them and they were in there already.

Hi PoiZoNouZ

Give your customer call number a ring. It's toll free and they will talk you through all the settings for the dialup and additional modem settings. I use the same phone on my laptop with the bluetooth modem on vodacom and their call centre was very helpfull. Works like a charm!

I use the bluetooth stack that shipped with my notebook, it works a lot better. Simply set up a dial up connection using the "bluetooth modem", blank uid and pwd and *99#.
