I can hardly connect to any sites - this one and my ISP's (cybersmart) home page are fine but international sites like cnn.com, telegraph.co.uk, bbc.co.uk are completely unresponsive. Also getting nothing from hellkom. Any one else having problems?

Hi

I'm having similar issues accessing most international websites. I'm with WebAfrica and am on 4mbit adsl. I can't even access wikipedia this morning :/

If it helps, I'm on the Cape Town (021) 762 exchange.

I'm going to give the WA support a call and see if they know of any saix connectivity issues.

Tried resetting mine, and still the same thing. I'm also in CT, on the 785 (Sunnydale) exchange.

same issue.. try specifying a proxy, seems maybe the local transparent one saix uses by default for web traffic is stuffed.

Changed mine to work on 196.25.253.13:8080 till saix sorts it fix. Working like normal now.

same issue here in Sea Point, with WebAfrica Unshaped prepaid.

Thanks for the hint about proxy, but is there a hope in the future that we get a full internet topology access on ADSL, without going through this ugly telkom cache ?

Guys I am having the same problem ...in Cape Town 785 exchange. Seems all international traffic is an issue it's also intermittant. Of course I Phone hellcom and they know NOTHING about it just keep transferring me ....not willing to wait another hour so best to just leave it!

I phoned WebAfrica and they did say that they had techies working on the international problems. I'm not sure if this is correct since the problems aren't ISP specific but rather throughout SAIX.

Nothing on the SAIX noticeboard about international connectivity problems.

I'm also having problems - CT/ 794 number.

Definately some problems here, but it seems mainly HTTP because my torrents are still going smooth.

Yes, my saix accounts seem to be struggling with international also, but my IS account is fine.

In your browser settings.

IE: Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings > Tick use proxy server > type in address and port, port is the number after the :

FF: Tools > Options > Advanced > Settings > Manual Proxy config > type in address and port.

same problems here (Cape Town CBD) with 2 different ISPs.

SAIX is up to something..

Try this:
dsl-cache.saix.net port 8080

Not sure if it makes a difference.

seems to have fixed the intermittent connection problems for me.

NexusISP recommended that some time ago.
