Same problem here in the Eastern Cape but using the proxy setting solved it.

I just registered to say: 789 / Noordhoek / Cape Town is also borked! but the alternate proxy works..
 
I was having the same problem, the proxy setting helped me out though. Thanks!
 
Struggling here in Wynberg.

How do I find out my exchange #? I feel un-tech with you guys knowing this and I don't. ;)
 
?? uhm 1st three digits of phone/circuit number. I'm on wynberg exch too. I actually got a list i worked out of saix transparent proxies for nefarious reasons but it is handy. Sometimes I wish it was direct other times not -shrug-
 
This is not just a Cape Town problem - I am having the same problem in East London. Using the proxy solves it, though! Thank you much for the tip!
 
Another Telkom victim unable to access international sites via ADSL. Naturally Faizal (the Telkom helpdesk guy) claims there isn't any problem, even though any plonker who logs onto myadsl can view the list of complaints. Maybe we're the problem - is this all in my imagination?
 
Downloading from wcradio.com at 440kb per second. Got 4Mbit today :D Cant see any problem as far as that goes.
 
Victor, from Telkom technical advises that Telkom is aware of a problem. Apparently authentication related? The problem is being addressed, unfortunately they don't know how long it will take
 
Have the same problem in Malmesbury area, using 196.25.253.13:8080 for proxy seems to help. Thanks!
 
My Is has limited connectivity. Dl'ing from planetmirror.com at 2kbps.. but from Nvidia it goes full speed. It's been like this with many other websites.. those are just two examples out of a Dozen.

Thanks for this. Intermittent all day - and just came back! Telkom internet.

... completely borked.

Telkoms end of month spree revenge :(

Anyone still having problems? Mine still seems screwed, reset router and all..
 
Nope still not working properly. Works for 5 minutes then dies again.

When I add the proxy I can't get on any websites :(
 
When I put it in I get:

Forbidden
You were denied access because:

Access denied by access control list.
 
*nod* they limit it. I notice too they got ones for cpt, dbn and jhb it seems but you can't access ones outside the region or something. anyways else try:
cache.saix.net:8080 <- this one is like a alias that pushes it to the correct one/default *shrug*
