Connectivity Problems ADSL 384

Hi guys, im getting really frustrated with this sittuation and was wondering if i could get a bit of input from you

From about tuesday last week my connection started acting really strange and after a bit digging i found that my connection seems to be dropping quite a bit of data. It varies between 5% and 25% packet loss

I called up telkom to report the fault and they told me they tested my line from their end and they could see nothing wrong it. Which frustrated me to no end because i could see that there was something up
So i called my ISP SAOL to find out if they knew about/where having any issues and the support technitian did some tests and told me that my line was having problems staying synced because my attenuation was running at 55. I called telkom back and they told me he was talking rubbish because they dont have that kind of access to their systems. Great, like hitting your head against a wall

Ill give you a bit of background as to what i did to try and resolve it and my setup

I run the standard Mega 100WR you get with the installation
there are 2 PCs conncected to this modem via CaT5, both experiancing the same issues
Ive replaced all cables to and from the modem
Ive tried another router (belkin not sure what model) with the exact same results
Unplugged all devices from the line, Fax machines telephones etc etc until i had one system and the modem on this line. No joy

strange thing is the line started running OK twice during this period but the connection obviously started degrading because im back to step 1 again

Ill post some ping tests and my modems attenuation and noise levels

Thats over a 30 min perioid as i had just reset the router

The amount of data lost varies alot and it also seems to depend on how much data im trying to recieve/send on the line
Telkom will be sending someone around, not sure when but in the mean time any help would be truly appreciated

For what it's worth, I seem to be having the same problem since last week, and it seems to get worse with time.
Over the weekend online gaming was frustrating with lost connections and websites opened slowly or not at all on occasion. Traceroutes on pcpitstop.com showed up to 30% lost packets.
Yesterday morning the problem magically disappeared with 0% packetlosses reported. This continued throughout the day until 6 pm, when my internet connection hit a wall. Browsing is happening at slower than dail-up and I can't open most sites. COD4 mutliplayer wouldn't load the game at all past the server selection screen
I have Web-Africa unshaped, shaped and local pre-paid accounts as well as a Axxess 626 account and this happens on all of them. Have tried fiddling with tcip settings, tried opendns, reset router, ect.

Will be contacting Telkom today. Live in Evander, Mpumalanga btw, with a 4Mbps connection which ussually give me up to 3.5Mbps on speedtests.

something doesn't add up.
telkom recons line attenuation to be 55 down but the router claims it is 28.

if you use an ADSL max capacity calculator you would get:
An estimate of what your line is capable of is 529kbps (kilo bits per second).

in both line attenuation conditions.

i'd suggest to get a proggie like routerstats to plot the SNR down (DS MARGIN) value for an hour or two at 5 second intervals and post a link here to that plot.

my2c...it is a line problem (joint problem)

Aha, I live in Evander too
Things are starting to add up. What id like to know now is if we are connecting to the same exchange. I live in Bergen Str, Please let me know if your close to me.. I guess any extra info will help telkom sort this out quicker. Maybe also send me your call no so i can get them to create a related case

This was my isp claiming this, not Telkom though. Not sure where he got this figure

OK, seems like Saturday night they "fixed" the exchange as there was a problem on it. This is around the time that the line started working again

However Sunday monring the line was borked again. So they obviously didnt fix it properly. Nice thing was this morning i got an SMS to say the call was closed but i tested it this morning and the line was still dropping alot of data

Ive reopened the call and theyll send someone to check the exchange again
If you could still log your call that would be great, i suspect we are on the same exchange
