Hi,

looking for some assistance on these connex swiftbook (l1430) laptops. Want to replace the current 2.5" drive with an SSD.

My understanding is currently they have inbuilt memory as well, and I believe this is where the current OS is installed.

I would like to clone the OS drive and the existing drive onto a single SSD and then boot from this, some questions:

1.) how do you access the bios on these things, seems to be locked down? (i want to be able to change the boot drive)
2.) what is the easiest way to achieve what i want in terms of the hard drive cloning, any advice here?

Another follow on question possibly, am I overthinking this, is the internal memory the OS is on still considered fast enough that I shouldn't really worry about having it on the actual SSD.

(Generally I prefer just having a larger single main drive with a secondary drive purely for extra storage)
 
I am posting from that exact device.

I think it's the esc key to enter bios. Can't help you with anything else. I just stuck Q4OS on it no issues.

Thanks @pinball wizard it is indeed ESC to enter the BIOS on these.

Now I just need to figure out to achieve the best possible outcome but at least i can change the boot selection

Current situation:
internal memory has the OS loaded and the user profile is on the existing standard disk drive

Ideal situation:
OS moved to the new SSD along with the user profile and it just becomes one single drive

Halfway solution:
Leave OS on the existing internal memory but clone the existing standard drive to the SSD and have it work in its current configuration except the user profile and other data will be on the SSD
** I have tried this already however the issue is when loading windows it can't load the user profile - not sure how to fix this, I tried running diskpart and assigning the right drive letter but it made no difference

Not ideal solution:
reload windows from scratch onto the new drive - they have other software and licenses etc etc that i really didnt want to get involved with
 
I suppose another solution which will reach the ideal solution is to:
1.) Move the windows profile to the internal drive (i may need to temporarily store the documents etc on a separate drive if there isn't space)
2.) extend the partition to the full SSD capacity
3.) set this drive as the boot drive and run with a singular drive

any ideas?
