Consistent Speed

i changed from iburst to adsl , I know many peaple have had many issues with iburst but for me it worked consistently at 30 KB/s .

My frustration with adsl is that whilst it is faster it is soooo eratic. When downloading on the saix newsserver i get anywhere between 20 KB/s and 250 KB/s . The telkom speed test shows 350 KB/s (telkom tells me the line is fine) my isp (axxess - who are very good btw) has told me they have no reason as to why the line speed should be so eratic.

Does anyone else have this problem ?

A second issue is I have "an up to 4 meg" line ane even on a good day dont break 250 KB/s:confused:
 
with a newsserver, cached stuff will run at full line speed. uncached stuff only at 20kb/sec with saix, and 10kb/sec with IS.
 
I am speaking about all in the same download. will sit at 20 kb/s for half an hour jump to 250 kb/s for 20 min etc
 
I dont really download from elsewhere but the telkom speed test is much quicker
 
must be ur line...ur copperline and noise level
Coz my 384 is consistant at 40kB/sec...except on certain day last week
I also have iburst and maybe its just my tower but during the day the speeds are like 4-35kB/sec and at night it flys!

Files on the SAIX news server come from Giganews, so screw caching.

Btw, I also get erratic speeds, it's not constant, I'm doing +- 48 kb/s today.
