The only game I see on that list that miiight be okay for kids to play is Skate 3.

My 3yr old is into consoles but I cannot find any suitable games for him. He is also has an educational series on PC (Comfy Adventure) and goes ape with excitement when he is allowed to play. End of day, PC is far better for little ones.

Consoles turn kids into button junkies. They grow up with a 10 button view of the world, and see computers simply as a medium of entertainment. At least if you provide your child with a PC, games form a subsection of the experience, and when "bored" with a game, or want to "know more" (as in how to build games) the child can jump right in on the same hardware they used to play their games.

My point is PC's provide relevant scope applicable to the requirements of the real world, consoles don't.

Couldn't agree with you more, just trying to disprove this notion that consoles are target audience are children.

Consoles have never been for kids, yes there were kid orientated games, I think Nintendo is the reason people see "tv" games as being for kids, as they focused more on that market.

PS3 is not for kids.

For kids I would recommend a pc any-day. I have alot of consoles including the wii and my 4yo daughter would rather play on the pc than on any of the others.

Problem with a PC is when the kids break it who is the one who has to fix it :p

I got a WII a few weeks ago for my nephew when he comes to visit.

I've had the other consoles, I won a PS3 when it came out and I received an Xbox as part of a business deal. I sold both consoles since as a guy who is going on into his mid 30s, I didn't feel like learning all the buttons and reading a manual and go for a training course just so that I could play a game with my nephew.

The WII was quite refreshing in this regard, we just plugged it in, loaded the game and started playing as if we have been playing for years, and it certainly has a huge fun factor attached to it.

You honestly need a manual to play on a console? You sure you not 80 or something? o.O
