That sounds outright illegal. So CSS is operating on the (good) name of Planet Gaming? Or is it that the client never knew their console went to Planet Gaming until something went wrong?

Edit: I see you have Quickflow IT in your sig., without backing for your claims it will look like you are badmouthing a competitor.

What I'm saying is that CSS were to take the consoles in to Planet Gaming for the repairs NOT 'do' the repairs themselves. The last 5 months or so the number of consoles booked in by Planet Gaming has been miniscule (10 or less a month) and there are almost 90 branches of the two large retailers where customers can book-in their unit so it's impossible that so little was delivered to the 'actual service centre'. CSS instead of being the middle man and logistical arm decided to take the full business and thereby caused damage to the nominated contract holder.

Both the owner of Planet Gaming and myself (owner of Quick Flow IT) have decided to lift the lid on the state of things as we will soon partner up so that customers get the proper service they deserve.

The owner of Planet Gaming has asked that I let it be known on a public platform such as this that CSS are bad news, and that it will soon be rectified by the contract being shared between our businesses.

I thought Partserve were the official repair group for both major consoles?

Well you should take legal action, but planet gaming asking you to bad mouth another company with what is at best circumstantial evidence is a bit unethical in my opinion.
Maybe consoles just aren't breaking any more:)

They (Part Serve) offer a swap out service (bring in your faulty unit and pay for a refurbished unit irrespective of the fault) of Playstation consoles. MS have a local agent that does the same thing (forgot their name now)

Which is why there's a gap in the market for 3rd party repair companies such as ourselves

Haha ... I doubt consoles do not break anymore (we still have work).

I've had a conversation since I made the original post and it seems that Planet Gaming will be seeking legal advice too.

I hope this episode is now a thing of the past ...

I'd like to ask a mod to delete this thread as I'm now caught in the middle of the wrangle that is the Planet Gaming / Console Service Centre feud and my company has been threatened with litigation that we don't need.

Thank you

Hey look. I've had a think about it and the truth is that this industry is made up of allot of ego's.

CSC isn't innocent and Planet Gaming have also made mistakes ... at the end of the day service levels and customer satisfaction speaks volumes. There are many console repair companies that we're competing with that are either in it for a quick buck or to offer the service levels that the manufacturer is not prepared to offer locally.

I know that there are very few complaints of my service and when there is I will make sure it is sorted out amicably. There isn't allot that can be done from a legal point of view as the poster above correctly states that there is freedom of speech BUT at the end of the day I don't need unnecessary drama.

The situation will be sorted by Planet Gaming discussing and renegotiating the repair contract with the national retailer and also the appropriate steps being taken in regards to CSC. That process is independent of information shared in the original post.

Even if it does get deleted, the nature of the above scenario is known.

I get confused with the names mentioned like CSC, ICSS, CSS, so who is who? As a PS3 console owner I would like to know.

CSC (Console Service Centre), CSS (my typo) and ICSS (Integrated Computer Support Services) is a company in Midrand that used to handle local Playstation repairs (printers, scanners, etc as well). I believe ICSS is now closed!

Sony technical support is now handled by Part Serve via a swap out procedure (no repairs are actually done) in terms of the official channel.

Console repair, cellphone repair and a myriad of other electronics are done by independent companies. Some are contracted by the manufacturers and the rest are not.

Word of mouth remains the best tool in deciphering who is good to go to ...

Sorry to hear that!

The original info I posted was taken down so as not to have drama with Console Service Centre's owner (even though it's the truth) but people's experiences with them is what will tell at the end of the day ...
